It is an early CDV, an albumen photo of an earlier cut paper silhouette I believe. I find that particular albumen brown against cream very lovely, and always love a photo of an earlier form of representation, especially a portrait, and also love the that little bow tie! It strikes me too

It strikes me too that it looks a bit like a face in profile poking out of a Christmas stocking!
4 3/16" x 2 1/2", good condition, late 1850s/early 1860s I believe, unmarked back.
