This striking 2K denomination stamp from the Republik Maluku Selatan (Republic of South Moluccas) depicts a small rodent-like animal in a grassy savanna landscape. Printed in rich tones of brown, green, and blue, the stamp combines natural realism with early postwar regional design. Although labeled “POS POSTAGE,” it was never officially recognized by the Universal Postal Union, classifying it as a Cinderella issue — a product of the short-lived RMS independence movement of the early 1950s. Collectors prize these stamps for their historical symbolism and vivid, almost painterly wildlife imagery.
