Fit & Compatibility

• Bowl fitment: fixed silicone cone seat accepts all standard phunnel and traditional clay bowls — no separate grommet needed.
• Heat: works with classic charcoal-and-foil setups and modern heat management devices on the tray.

How To Use

1. Lift the top tray frame off and fill the plexiglass chamber with cold water — keep the level just above the diffuser, no higher. Lower the top frame back on.
2. Snap the magnetic hose into the connector port on the side of the body.
3. Set your draw — rotate the 4-position diffuser to find your preferred resistance.
4. Place your chosen bowl onto the silicone cone seat — the seal grips any standard bowl type.
5. Top with foil and coconut charcoal, or fit a heat management device on the tray.
6. Insert batteries into the LED housing and press the remote to power on — light filters through the negative space of the tribal flame cut-outs for a backlit silhouette effect.
7. Draw to start. Exhale gently into the mouthpiece to purge — smoke vents from beneath the tray in a cascading waterfall.

Care & Maintenance

• Plexiglass inner chamber: after each session, lift the top frame off, empty and rinse with warm water and a soft sponge only. Never use alcohol, abrasives or aggressive chemicals — contact will cause cracks and irreparable damage.
• Anodised aluminium outer shell and tribal panels: wipe with a soft damp cloth, then dry. Avoid scouring pads, steel wool and abrasive cleaners — they're the one thing that can dull the matte finish over time. A soft brush works well for any dust that settles in the cut-outs.
• Wipe the stainless steel inner shaft, bowl cone, tray and mesh with a damp cloth once cooled.
• Remove the diffuser to rinse the screen separately.
• Keep the magnetic hose port dry and wipe away any sticky residue.
• LED housing and remote: keep dry, wipe externally only — never submerge.
• Store disassembled in the presentation box when not in regular use.

Why does the Tribal Black use anodised aluminium for the shell?

It's the material that delivers the finish. Anodising bonds the colour into the surface of aluminium rather than coating it on top — so the deep, uniform matte black you see won't chip, scratch off or peel like paint or powder-coat eventually does. Aluminium is also lighter than stainless steel, so the Tribal Black ends up as one of the lighter editions in the Smart Box line despite the heavier visual presence. The functional core inside the shell — the stainless steel shaft, diffuser, bowl cone and magnetic port — is identical to the rest of the Smart Box line.

How does the Tribal Black differ from the other Smart Box editions?

The outer skin. The standard EXZO and Panelka use stainless steel shells; the Gold runs titanium-nitride coating across stainless components with matte black lotus mandala side panels; the Tribal Black uses an anodised aluminium shell with 3D laser-cut tribal flame skin panels in relief, plus a tribal-style radiating engraving and matching cut-out coal mesh on the tray. Same SMART shaft, waterfall purge, 4-position diffuser, magnetic port and LED system inside. A different visual language — grungier, sculptural, completely blacked out.

Are the tribal flame skin panels removable?

Yes. The whole anodised aluminium outer shell lifts off the plexiglass chamber, with a foam-padded inner surface so it slips on and off without scratching the body. Run it on for the full tribal-flame effect, or strip it off to run the bare blacked-out body with the LED chamber on display.

Is the top frame removable for water filling?

Yes. The top tray frame lifts off vertically — that's how you fill the plexiglass chamber with water. The tribal-flame cut-out coal mesh can also be lifted out separately and used as a coal rest beside the hookah while you shape or rotate charcoal during the session.

How should I care for the anodised aluminium finish?

Anodising is one of the most durable surface treatments going — the colour is part of the metal, not a layer on top of it. Wipe with a soft damp cloth and avoid scouring pads, steel wool or abrasive cleaners, and the finish will hold up to years of regular sessions. A soft brush helps for dust that settles into the tribal cut-outs.

How limited is this edition?

Genuinely limited. We bring the Tribal Black edition into Australia directly because we wanted it on this market. Production runs are at Alpha's discretion, not ours, and restock timing depends on what's available from the factory.

Does it include a bowl, charcoal or HMD?
