A Modern Legacy of the Liberator
Document the contemporary financial history of the República Bolivariana de Venezuela with this complete set of the Bolívar Digital series. Launched in October 2021, these notes replaced the previous "Bolívar Soberano" at a rate of 1 million to 1. This set includes the high-denomination 200 and 500 notes introduced in 2023 to keep pace with changing economic conditions.
Obverse (Front): Every note in this series pays homage to Simón Bolívar, "El Libertador," through various historical portraits. The higher denominations (200 and 500) feature a unique composite design with multiple depictions of Bolívar and scenes from the Battle of Lake Maracaibo.
Vertical Format: In line with many modern security designs, these notes use a vertical orientation on the obverse and a traditional horizontal orientation on the reverse.
Thematic Consistency: The reverse of the notes features a recurring tribute to the Bicentennial of the Battle of Carabobo, a pivotal moment in Venezuelan independence.
Issuer: Banco Central de Venezuela (BCV)
Currency: Bolívar Digital (VES)
Denominations Included: 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 Bolívares.
Condition: Choice Uncirculated (UNC) – Each note is bank-fresh with zero folds, crisp paper, and vibrant original ink.
Series Years: 2021 (5–100) and 2023 (200–500).
Collector's Perspective: Venezuela's currency transitions are legendary among numismatists. This specific series is significant because it represents the third redenomination in less than 15 years. Finding the 200 and 500 Bolívares notes in uncirculated condition is particularly rewarding, as they entered a high-velocity cash economy where uncirculated examples quickly disappeared.
