This is a classic Imperial Russia stamp valued at 1 Ruble, issued in the late 19th century during the reign of Tsar Alexander III. The design features the Imperial double-headed eagle at center, enclosed within a red oval. Surrounding it is an ornate black frame with scrolling ornaments and inscriptions in Cyrillic, including ПОЧТОВАЯ МАРКА (“Postage Stamp”). The denomination “1 РУБ.” is boldly printed in red at the bottom. Printed on a finely patterned background, this issue is highly regarded by collectors for its intricate engraving and rich color contrast. High-value ruble stamps from this era were primarily used on heavy parcels and international mail, making genuinely used examples scarce.
