By deploying followers, they score points for completed projects. Each turn, you place one landscape tile and may place one follower on it. The type depends on the tile. There are tiles with road sections, monasteries, city sections, and/or field segments. In principle, no more than one follower may be on a project, but if two unfinished sections are connected, it can happen that more followers end up on it. Whoever has the most followers on a completed project immediately receives points for it. Different scoring rules apply to each type of project for the number of points to be received. The game ends when all tiles have been laid. The player with the most points wins. Carcassonne is popular with both families and frequent players because, despite its simple rules, it has sufficient depth.
