A Rare Piece of Baltic Olympic History Capture a moment of Lithuanian independence and sporting pride with this rare 50 Litaurų banknote. Issued exclusively for use during the events organized by the Lithuanian National Olympic Committee in the city of Šiauliai (July 27 – August 4, 1991), these notes served as local currency vouchers before the permanent Litas was introduced.
The design features:
Obverse: A large, detailed Oak Tree, a symbol of strength and deep roots in Lithuanian culture, alongside the denomination "Penkios Dešimtys Litaurų."
Reverse: A dynamic illustration of a Rowing Sculler, representing the Athletics and Olympic spirit of the games. It also features the logo of the Lithuanian National Olympic Committee (LTOK).
Historical Context: These were "trade vouchers" guaranteed by the Šiauliai branch to be exchangeable for Soviet Rubles at the time, helping to transition the local economy toward a sovereign currency.
Condition: Uncirculated (UNC).
