This half day tour includes visits to Coptic Cairo, located in Old Cairo, which predates the actual founding of Cairo by the Muslim Fatimids in 969 AD. Once known as the Roman stronghold of Babylon, Cairo's oldest section is the ancient heart of the Coptic Christian community featuring five original churches. There were more than 20 churches within a square kilometre at one time, but only a few remain today.

Discover the ancient sites and culture of Coptic Christians throughout Old Cairo. Visit the Hanging Church, which derives its name from its location on top of the southern tower gate of an old Babylon fortress, possibly the oldest Christian church in Egypt. Your next stop is the Abu Serga, a place where the Holy Family rested after fleeing Israel from King Herod. Ben Ezra Synagogue is one of the oldest synagogues in Egypt. Set in a shady garden, it was built on the site of a 4th-century Christian church.
