The A2004 is a dedicated autopilot controller designed to meet the needs of professional mariners aboard a variety of commercial vessels. It features a proven Simrad interface, presented on a wide-angle and zero-fog colour display. Engineered for responsiveness and ease of use, the A2004 pairs a precision rotary control dial with dedicated buttons for instant access to steering modes, a custom-configurable Work mode, and automated turn patterns.

A2004 is a dedicated autopilot controller designed to meet the needs of professional sailors on various commercial ships. It has a proven Simrad interface and is displayed on a wide-angle and zero-fog color display. A2004 is designed for responsiveness and ease of use. Pairing the precision rotary control dial with the dedicated button can immediately enter the steering mode, as well as the customizable working mode and automatic steering mode. A2004 is based on the proven user interface and keyboard layout of Simrad AP70 and AP80 professional autopilot controllers, and is consistent with the latest generation of Simrad radar, sonar and ECDIS displays. The large aluminum rotary control dial can realize fast and precise steering adjustment, and the dedicated key can immediately enter the steering mode, customizable working mode and automatic steering mode. All built-in controls are designed to be easy to use in wet environments, and can also be used in gloved commercial environments, such as fishing boats and work boats. A2004 also supports various Simrad autopilot remote controls and steering wheels. Each of Simrad's steering innovations is based on more than sixty years of autonomous driving development tradition, and this development continues to this day. The Continuum algorithm (the software behind the Simrad steering technology) embodies this tradition. In order to ensure the best visibility under all conditions, the A2004's color LCD panel is optically bonded to its protective glass cover, thereby eliminating the possibility of internal condensation. Transflective LCD technology uses reflected sunlight to brighten the screen instead of darkening it. Compared with traditional backlit displays, it has excellent daytime visibility and lower power consumption. The 170-degree ultra-wide viewing angle means that key autopilot information is clear at a glance and can be seen from anywhere on the display. A2004 can automatically control a single propeller through the optional AD80 or SD80 interface module. The thruster can be set to automatically engage below a user-defined speed threshold, and can be configured in normal mode and working mode respectively. A2004 also supports a specially designed heavy-duty rudder feedback unit designed to operate reliably on commercial ships.
