Pixel Study reimagines the digital image in a physical, painterly form. Drawing on the familiar language of screen‑based imagery, the work magnifies each “pixel” into a distinct, hand‑painted square, transforming what is normally imperceptible into something tactile and deliberate. From a distance, the colours begin to cohere into a recognisable scene, echoing the way the mind blends digital fragments into light, shadow and form. Up close, however, the illusion dissolves, revealing the individuality of each block of colour and the constructed nature of the image itself.
By enlarging the pixel beyond its usual invisibility, the painting invites viewers to confront the mechanics of perception—how the eye seeks meaning, how the brain stitches fragments into coherence, and how easily that coherence can slip away. The result is a contemporary abstract that sits at the intersection of digital culture and traditional painting, offering both visual play and conceptual depth.
