The design reproduces a scene from John Trumbull’s famous painting, depicting the presentation of captured British flags to the Continental Congress after the Battle of Yorktown — a decisive victory that ended the American Revolutionary War. The inscription “PRÉSENTATION AU CONGRÈS DES DRAPEAUX CAPTURÉS À YORKTOWN” emphasizes this moment of triumph.

Issued as part of Rwanda’s international tribute to America’s 200th anniversary, the stamp features a 50 centimes denomination, finely printed with a sepia-brown frame and bilingual inscriptions in French.
