Guest Speakers- Dr Mo Fayad & Dr Bruno Azevedo
Dr Bruno Azevedo is a dual specialist in Endodontics and Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology, practising in Austin, Texas. A Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology, he is internationally recognised as a leading expert in 3D imaging technologies for Endodontics.
09:30 – 11:00
This lecture challenges conventional thinking in CBCT imaging for endodontics. Drawing on more than two decades of clinical experience and research, Dr Azevedo explores misconceptions surrounding radiation risk, interpretation of imaging literature, and the appropriate use of CBCT in modern endodontic practice.
The lecture introduces Dr Azevedo’s Six Pillars of CBCT Mastery:
• Computers
• CBCT Acquisition
• Data Correction
• Data Navigation
• Data Interpretation
• Advanced Technologies
Participants will gain practical insight into improving diagnostic accuracy and maximising the value of CBCT imaging in clinical decision-making.
11:00 – 11:30
Coffee Break
11:30 – 12:45
Advanced CBCT interpretation techniques including:
• Detection of vertical root fractures
• Visualisation of complex root canal anatomy
• Identification of “unknown unknowns” in endodontic scans
• Integration of CBCT findings with restorative dentistry considerations
Clinical cases derived from the analysis of hundreds of thousands of CBCT scans will illustrate how 3D imaging can transform diagnosis and treatment planning.
12:45 – 14:00
Lunch
14:00 – 15:30
Strategies to improve diagnostic quality and reduce imaging artefacts:
• Minimising noise, scatter and beam hardening
• Optimising CBCT acquisition protocols
• Enhancing image datasets using advanced correction tools
• Efficient navigation and interpretation of 3D datasets
15:30 – 16:30
Exploring future developments in CBCT and digital imaging:
• Integration of new imaging technologies
• AI-assisted image interpretation
• Enhancing diagnostic accuracy in complex cases
Interactive discussion and clinical case review.
16:30 – 17:00
A discussion on how recent guidance is influencing the role of CBCT and advanced technologies in contemporary endodontic practice
