KDMHolic "건곤감리" Geon Gon Gam Ri T-Shirt



Did you ever wonder what the black trigrams meant on the Korean flag?
They are called Geon Gon Gam Ri (건곤감리)

Geon: Symbolizes the sky, air, south, and summer
Gon: Symbolizes the earth, north, and winter
Gam: Symbolizes water, west, and autumn
Ri: Symbolizes fire, east, and spring

And, of course, we have the Taegeuk (태극) mark in the middle of the flag with a red and blue circle.  The Taegeuk mark represents the harmony between positive and negative forces; and also represent the duality of the universe, such as light and dark, old and new, male and female, and good and evil.

Together, the Taegeuk mark and the trigrams embodies the Korean people's vision of continuous enrichment and creation.
