This is a genuine Protector Lamp & Lighting Co. Type 6 miner’s safety lamp, made in Eccles, England, and used historically within British coal mining. A proper industrial piece rather than a decorative reproduction, it features the original maker’s badge clearly stamped “Protector Lamp & Lighting – Type 6 – M & Q Safety Lamps – Eccles,” confirming its authenticity.

Constructed from a combination of steel upper body and brass base with a glass cylinder, this lamp has a solid, weighty feel and the unmistakable presence of true working equipment. The form is both functional and iconic, with the protective cage, bonnet, and locking mechanism all intact. The internal burner and wick assembly are present, and the lamp is in good working order.
