Discover Superior Underwater Visibility with the Garmin P19 Nylon Transducer

Imagine gliding through choppy waters with crystal-clear readings of the depths below, no matter how fast you're going. The Garmin P19 Nylon 12° Tilt Transducer delivers exactly that for boaters who demand precision without compromising on speed or hull integrity. Designed as a low-profile thru-hull mount, this 8-pin powerhouse uses dual-frequency sonar at 77/200 kHz to paint a reliable picture of what's beneath your vessel—fish, structure, or just safe passage. Its tilted element cleverly compensates for hull deadrise angles between 8° and 16°, ensuring the beam points straight down for accurate depth tracking up to 900 feet.

What sets this nylon transducer apart? It's built tough for fiberglass and metal hulls alike, protruding just a whisper from the hull to slash drag and boost your top-end performance. Whether you're cruising a sailboat under 30 feet or powering through bays in a sportfisher, this unit shines by minimizing turbulence while maximizing echo returns. Pair it with compatible Garmin chartplotters and fishfinders for seamless integration, turning raw data into actionable insights on your screen.

With a generous 30-foot cable and included installation hardware like a rubber washer for uneven surfaces, setup is straightforward. The right-angle cable exit keeps things protected and out of the way, even in tight spaces.

Why Boaters Trust This Transducer for Real-World Adventures

  • High-Speed Reliability: The streamlined nylon housing cuts through water with minimal resistance, maintaining strong signals even at planing speeds—perfect for day cruisers and weekend warriors.
  • Versatile Hull Compatibility: That 12° built-in tilt means no extra fairing needed for common deadrise angles, saving time and hassle during install.
  • Enhanced Detection: Wide 45° low-frequency beam for bottom coverage pairs with a narrow 15° high-frequency cone for pinpoint detail, helping you spot wrecks or schools effortlessly.
  • Temp Sensing Bonus: Track water temperature changes alongside depth, invaluable for trolling patterns or safety in varying conditions.
  • Durable Build: ABYC H-27 compliant housing withstands marine abuse, from saltwater spray to occasional footsteps on deck.

Pro Tip: Matching It to Your Setup

For optimal results, measure your hull's deadrise precisely— this model's tilt shines on 8-16° angles, delivering vertical beams without distortion. On sailboats, it excels in heel compensation; on powerboats, it preserves speed without sacrificing sonar quality. Think about your boating style: deep-water explorers love the 900-foot range, while coastal anglers appreciate the dual beams for structure scanning.

Installation Insights for Flawless Performance

  1. Site Selection: Choose a spot forward of the prop and keel, away from strakes or thru-hulls that could aerate the water path.
  2. Prep Work: Dry-fit the 2-inch shaft, seal with marine-grade sealant, and torque the hull nut snugly using the included washer.
  3. Cable Routing: Secure the 30-foot lead through bulkheads, avoiding sharp bends to prevent signal loss.
  4. Test Run: Calibrate on the water, tweaking gain and frequency for your conditions—low freq for max depth, high for clarity.
  5. Maintenance: Rinse after saltwater use, inspect the face annually for marine growth, and store dry in off-seasons.

Common pitfall? Poor alignment leads to noisy returns. The tilted ceramic here eliminates that guesswork, giving pro-level readings from day one.

Ideal Applications Across Marine Pursuits

This transducer thrives on vessels up to 30 feet: think coastal cruisers scanning shallows, sailboats navigating channels, or small center-consoles chasing baitfish. It's not just for fishfinders—pair it with multifunction displays for navigation overlays, turning your helm into a command center. In rough seas, the stable vertical beam cuts through foam, outperforming transom mounts that lose contact.

Tilted Element™ Thru-Hull

Minimize Your Drag
The P19 model have been the standard in low-profile models for many years. Their large sensitive ceramics allow deep echosounding up to 206M (700'). These nearly flush units minimize drag as only 5mm (2/10") of the housing extends outside of the hull. The plastic P19 provides a vertical beam without a fairing. Inside the housing, the ceramic element is tilted to provide built-in deadrise compensation. The resulting vertical beam provides excellent echo returns for moreaccurate depth readings.
