A mortar & pestle is a versatile and hard-to-replace tool for crushing, dispersing, and mixing solids. In the art studio, it's especially useful for making paint and breaking down natural pigments (like walnut hulls or turmeric).

This mid-sized, traditionally-styled mortar and pestle is a great all-purpose option, with a large and heavy pestle made from the same Carrara marble as the mortar. The inside of the mortar and the base of the mortar are both textured and unpolished, which gives them a texture that makes grinding faster. The outside is polished, making it easier to clean.

Measures 4" in diameter and 4.5" tall. Made in Taiwan.
