Opel Blitz TLF 15 Fire Fighting truck was in use as early as 1942. The famed Opel Blitz truck was converted into a firefighting vehicle.  With the massive bombing raids happening day and night in Germany the fire fighting authorities realized that local fire protection was not enough to deal with the problem.  Special firefighting units were placed around the country and they would respond the large air raids to fight the fires that were sure to result.  These robust vehicles were well liked by their firemen and many served on for years after the war.
