Mashi Hosho is made in Echizen, located within the Fukui prefecture in Japan. Smooth Mashi is fused with sturdy Hosho on the back side, producing a thick, sturdy paper that accepts mediums beautifully on both sides. This paper does not wrinkle or bleed through. Unbleached. Sized to allow for fine detail in ink and color.

Mashi Hosho is great for printmaking, as you can see in our photos. It can also accept Gansai watercolors, calligraphy, sumi-e painting, ink drawing, Western watercolors, pencil, acrylic paint, gouache, and stamping.

Mashi Hosho is not acid-free, so it's best for shorter-term uses and crafts, like handmade greeting cards, place cards, and art class projects.
