This Chilean definitive stamp features the portrait of President Germán Riesco Errázuriz, who served from 1901 to 1906. Originally issued with a face value of 50 centavos, this example bears a black overprint “Eº 300”, indicating a provisional revaluation to 300 escudos during Chile’s currency transition period. Printed by Casa de Moneda de Chile, the design is rendered in deep brown with fine engraving detail, typical of mid-20th-century revalued issues. Such overprints were used to address inflationary changes and are prized for their historical and monetary significance in Chilean philately.
