Authentic Moriarty wool ski hat, hand-knit by a Vermonter in Stowe from 100% American-milled wool and is lined with a cozy fleece ear warmer. Each hat is tagged with a note saying who knitted your hat. 

This iconic Vermont brand was started in 1950 in Stowe by Anabel Moriarty, and is run today by her granddaughter. A bit about the Moriarty legacy, from the note on the hat: 

"As the story goes, my grandmother, Anabel, knit my uncle a hat to wear while competing at the 1956 Olympics. With limited time Anabel knit a wool hat with a distinctive peak that wasn't quite right but would have to do. Little did she know this simple hat would become the most popular and copied hat in the world.

As a third generation Moriarty I am constantly asked about the hat. Due to interest and demand, it became obvious that the hat needed to be brought back to life. We are proud to offer this USA handmade high quality wool hat."
