I've certainly come to love carefully mended things as much if not more than ones perfectly in tact, which is definitely the case with the broken and re-glued piece of thumb on the carved hand on the top of this trinket box, alabaster I believe, which looks rather as if wrapped in a clear band-aid! Mends such as this clearly attest to the care of its owner, and in this case I rather like it as a complement to the twisted bracelet around the wrist. I haven't found another out there quite like this, but would think Victorian era, and really a pretty little thing.

3 1/16" x 2 1/2" x 2 1/16" t. The interior rim on the underside of the lid also shows some chips, not visible when closed; otherwise it is in good shape.
