This striking 0.20 guaraní stamp was issued by Paraguay in 1970 to commemorate Expo ’70 in Osaka, Japan. The design reproduces a vibrant artwork by Ogata Kōrin (1658–1716), a celebrated Japanese painter of the Rinpa school. It features a bold mythological figure rendered in dynamic colors, capturing the spirit of Japanese art and culture. The stamp also bears the pink Expo ’70 emblem, linking Paraguay’s issue to this major international exposition. It was lithographed by Lito Nacional, Porto, Portugal, and also carries the inscription marking the Centenary of the National Epic (1864–1870). A fascinating thematic piece combining art, world expositions, and Paraguayan history.
