With advancing age or certain medical conditions, hydrochloric acid secretion within the stomach may decline resulting in decreased levels of pepsin, the enzyme that is needed to break down proteins into smaller more easily absorbed substances. Without proper pepsin levels, the body has a difficult time digesting food, mainly protein.

Betaine HCL is a supplemental source of hydrochloric acid, which can be utilised by the stomach to produce pepsin. In many cases of poor digestion the stomach acid is too low as opposed to too high. The combination of betaine hydrochloride and pepsin provide an excellent stomach tonic.

Directions

Suggested Use: 1 tablet with a meal, up to four times daily. Do not take on an empty stomach.

Caution: Not for use by pregnant or breastfeeding women. If you have stomach or duodenal ulcers, or are taking drugs that reduce stomach acid, do not take this product.
