I'm not really sure whether to call this penny covered bottle folk art or tramp art or just plain crafty, but I rather love it. Part of what I think makes it great is its utter impracticality--this thing weighs about 10 pounds!--so while the cork in the bottle implies that it might be filled, it would be quite a thing to pour from! I also love the tenacity-- heroicism, really--of its maker, who persisted in gluing these pennies one by one, layer by layer, despite glue oozing out here and there in what was surely a tremendously tedious and frustrating process. But what a thing they made, which seems to have retained all of pennies over the years; the most recent of which I can see dates to 1976. 

The bottle (there is blue glass under all those pennies) measures 7" tall x 6.5" wide x 4" deep. There are imperfections original to its making, namely some glue that oozed out a bit on the lower sections of both sides.
