Really a sweet little painting. I imagine the figure is an old doctor, carrying large medicine bag in one hand and cane in the other, carefully making his way through the snow with trusty dog companion at his side, on the way to a house call. Or perhaps returning home after a long day of visits. Either way, I like to imagine it is cozy and warm inside, or soon will be, and he and his dog will snuggle up together next to a fire!

12" x 9" x 7/8". Oil on canvas nailed to a thick wooden stretcher. Good condition; no holes or tears, tightly stretched and attached to stretcher; a little wear/darkening around the edges; has not been cleaned. Early 20th century I would guess.
