ArtMolds SOSYL^TM, is a multipurpose VOC-free silicone solvent used to thin RTV mold making silicone, the Cirius Silicone Paint System to thin for airbrush applications and can be used as the basis for silicone mold enlargement and shrinking process as well as to clean up un-cured silicone.

SOSYL is a non‐aqueous, VOC Exempt, HAP‐Free solvent that contains no petroleum distillates. The fluid is a Hexamethyldisiloxane (CAS# 107‐46‐0) with a viscosity of 0.65cSt @ 25°C. In comparison to other VOC Exempt Solvents, SOSYL has one of the fastest evaporation rates, lowest Flash point (‐1°C) and lowest boiling point (100°C). Its properties are similar to fast evaporating solvents such as naphtha, xylene, hexane and toluene.

Besides its use with silicone mold rubbers, SOSYL is an excellent solvent for removing a wide range of industrial oils, greases, fluids and waxes from substrates. SOSYL is also exempt from Federal VOC regulations including California (CARB) and OTC regulations. Unlike most petroleum‐based solvents, it does not contribute to ozone‐depletion and global warming. SOSYL VOC Exempt Solvent is an excellent carrying agent replacement for solvent‐ based formulations to attain VOC Compliancy.

Unlike acetone, SOSYL is compatible with the vast majority of surfaces and will not attack plastic, rubber and vinyl surfaces. In addition, it does not have the strong odor of traditional solvents

Applications:

• For use with an airbrush, the two-component Cirius Silicone Paint system is thinned with ArtMolds SOSYL, which is a VOC free silicone solvent. Thin layers of paint can thus, be then be applied to the silicone surface using an airbrush.
• Thin 2-part RTV Silicone mold rubbers to assist in the application of paint on face coats.
• Clean up spilled on mis-cured silicone mold rubber.
• Use in the traditional silicone mold enlargement and shrinking process.
