The History

Cycladic heads are named after the Cyclades - a group of islands in the ancient Aegean in which they were found. The name means “encircling islands,” as the island formed a rough circle around the sacred island of Delos, the legendary birthplace of Gods Artemis and Apollo. However, the icons appeared in various other places throughout Greek history. 

The Meaning

Cycladic sculptures are believed to represent females. They are a common symbol of female strength, mystery and a celebration of the female form.
