A high-performance "Business Calendar" from Holstein

The Oris Big Crown Pointer Date has been in constant production since 1938, and for 2025, the Holstein maker is introducing the Big Crown Calibre 113, a watch that pairs its design icon with a high-performance in-house hand-wound calibre featuring 10 days of power reserve, a non-linear power reserve indicator, and a unique 52-week 'Business Calendar' display. 

Behind that peppy, joyful dial are the stories of the Big Crown and Calibre 113. This hand-wound movement features a generous 10-day power reserve, exceptional compared to most mechanical watches. This is fueled by a mainspring in an oversized barrel, visible through the sapphire case back. The remaining power is displayed through a non-linear indicator at 3 o'clock, which is another innovation in itself, as it is driven by a "worm gear" unique to Oris.

First introduced in 1938 as a pilot’s watch, the Big Crown has been a collection mainstay ever since, becoming Oris’s signature design. Its oversized crown was originally intended for gloved airmen but now serves a more aesthetic purpose, and a reminder of its inventiveness and purpose-built origins.
