It's no wonder this wee lad is standing close to the chestnut man's brazier, he must be freezing!
We're down at the Barras Market, it's the 1950s, and the tantalising aroma of roasting, sweet chestnuts is perfuming the air. Served up with a wee paper twist of salt, they were a delicious winter-time treat.
And winter it must be, as everyone apart from the wee lad, is wrapped up against the cold.
I used to love juggling the hot chestnuts, trying to break through their tough, black and blistered leather jackets to get to the 'meat' inside.
Go to France or Spain, and roasted chestnuts are still a favourite street food. Perhaps it's time some young Glasgow foodie bought a brazier, fired it up, and started roasting once again.
