This is a brand new Kauer Guitars Super Chief with a beautifully figured Birdseye Maple top and back. The sides and neck are built from Spanish Mahogany. This guitar is certainly the lightest and most balanced SC we've had the opportunity to play, weighing in at only 6lbs 14oz.

The guitar is bound in white from top to bottom including the insides of the sound holes, With the 1-ply faux tortoise guard you end up with a super classy and clean looking guitar. The back of this instrument is possibly our favorite part esthetically. It's subdued overall, besides for the Birdseye figuring which shows some truly unique grain lines that weave in and out of each other. If you love nice timbre like we do; it's a sight to see, especially in person. The back of the body also reveals the heel cutaway and headstock volute, showing Kauer's dedication to each little detail of this build. Guitars inherently vibrate the most at the headstock, being that it's the thinnest part of the guitar. This eats up lots of vibrational energy, that should be going to the top/sound board. With a volute you add mass to the headstock, letting the soundboard take in most of that energy each time you pluck a string or strum a chord. 

The overall tone from this Super Chief is big and punchy with a bit of airiness to each note, due to the semi-hollow construction.This evens out all of the frequencies nicely. Think a Gretsch 6120 with P-90's and a thinner, smaller body; built with modern playability and optimal construction in mind. Played clean or overdriven, there is not much left to be desired. This guitar will suit a wide variety of playing styles. From guitarists who are playing clean fingerpicked passages, all the way up to high-energy Rockabilly and Rock and Roll styles. This Super Chief never feeds back in unwanted ways, yet with a healthy amount of distortion the guitar will give you some very musical and controllable feedback.
