Kashan weaving from the 1880s through 1920 — the great revival period when Mohtasham Kashan and the Kashan master weavers produced what many collectors still consider the finest court-quality Persian carpets of the modern era — occasionally dyed grounds in deep teal and turquoise as opposed to the dominant red and ivory. These teal-ground Kashans were typically commissioned pieces, not market production. The medallion-on-teal convention reads as a more deliberate, more chromatically-confident statement than red-ground Kashan.

Distinct from the cohort's Teal Safavid Tabriz anchor, which uses the curvilinear arabesque of 16th-c. Tabriz court weaving. This piece, in the Kashan register, is later (late 19th c.) and more formally-structured — the medallion sits more centrally, the border is more rectilinear, the overall composition reads as drawing-room declaration rather than as flowing court display.

Spot-clean with mild detergent; low-suction vacuum; professional clean every 18–24 months. Not a machine-washable rug.

Stocked in the canonical cohort run: 3×6, 3×10, 5×7.5, 6.5×10, 8.2×11.5, and 10×13 ft. Royal-medallion teal reads strongest at 6.5×10 and 8.2×11.5 — the saturated ground requires scale to read as commanding rather than as cluttered.

• Wood: mahogany, walnut, dark-stained oak — dark formal woods anchor against the saturated teal
• Upholstery: ivory damask, antique brass-button velvet, oxblood leather, gold-toned silk — jewel-tone palette tolerates strong solids
• Metal: aged brass, antique gold, dark bronze — the teal ground pulls cool from polished chrome and nickel
• Rooms: formal living rooms, dining rooms (particularly under a long rectangular table), libraries with leather chairs, formal entries
• Lighting: warm 2700K essential — cool LED flattens teal to dirty navy and loses the jewel reading

Best for: rooms with formal color discipline and substantial casegoods. Particularly strong in older Sacramento homes (East Sac Tudors, Land Park Mediterraneans) where saturated colors flatter the architecture.

Skip if the brief is restrained-neutral, the architecture is light-and-airy modern (the teal ground will dominate), or you want curvilinear flow rather than centered declaration (use the Teal Safavid Tabriz anchor instead).
