Inexplicable, and rather uncanny, too--this is a cigar box collection of toy weapons, which someone treated like butterflies, carefully arranging and mounting with estucheon pins to the inside of a cigar box, cotton batting underneath, just as if rare specimens. An art project, or a personal obsession, I have no idea--but I like the idea that a series of action figures (GI Joe, etc.) were systematically disarmed and their guns and grenades safely locked away! Resonant in all sorts of ways, including as a succinct encapsulation (and manifestation) of our culture's gun obsession.
