In 1998—before Google, Y2K panic, or Justin Bieber—GFB’s founding engineer, John Adrian, had a problem. His new WRX kept stalling with an atmosphere-venting BOV. So, he invented the world’s first dual-port BOV—the Hybrid.

This groundbreaking design prevented stalling and backfiring by staging two venting ports:

• Recirculation port opens first for smooth airflow.
• Atmosphere vent opens second for that signature BOV sound.

A Legacy of Innovation

The Hybrid was so effective that nearly every BOV brand adopted the technology. It later evolved into the Respons TMS (with adjustable venting bias) and the electronically adjustable Deceptor Pro.
