Sashiko is a Japanese style of un-hooped embroidery that uses long running stitches to create beautiful images of dashed lines and intricate patterns. These hana fukin, or kitchen cloths, are a great introduction to the craft.

The fabric is 100% cotton printed with markings that disappear when washed. The full cloth is 13.5 x 27" with the design size 13.5 x 13.5". They are usually worked by seaming the short ends of the fabric together and stitching the design through both layers to create a decorative table mat or tea towel. 

The samplers include the fabric and illustrated instructions printed in Japanese. To complete the sampler, you will need sashiko thread, a needle, and optionally a thimble, sold separately.
