This agate comes from the remote Gobi desert of Mongolian China. It is the end product of volcanic eruptions 100 -150 million years ago. Beautiful Agates formed after the eruptions, then weathered under the shifting sands for millions of years. The resulting gems have a highly condensed quality, a wide range of colors and a natural polished coating As a result, each one is a unique expression of mother Earth. Unlike mineral and other natural stones that can be mined or excavated for a long period of time, Gobi agate/stones are quite limited in quantity, and those worth collecting are actually rare. This beautiful, nearly one-ounce (23 grams) gem is beautifully shaped by nature for a wire-wrap pendant. The vibrant green color is most unusual in a Gobi Agate, in my experience. The stone measures approximately 56 X 31 X 15 mm.
