Nature's Blends Black Seed Oil (1L) Refill is a raw, cold-pressed Nigella sativa (black seed) oil sourced exclusively from premium Ethiopian highland seeds. Ethiopia's high-altitude growing regions — particularly around the Tigray and Amhara highlands — produce Nigella sativa with significantly higher thymoquinone (TQ) concentrations than seeds grown at lower altitudes or in other countries. Every batch of our Ethiopian black seed oil is independently laboratory-tested and must achieve a minimum certified TQ concentration of 2.5% before it is approved for sale. The oil is extracted by mechanical cold-press at low temperatures with no heat application and no chemical solvents — specifically no hexane — preserving the full spectrum of naturally occurring fatty acids, volatile compounds, and bioactive constituents in their raw state.

Origin & Sourcing

Our black seed oil is sourced from Nigella sativa seeds grown in the Ethiopian highlands at altitudes exceeding 2,000 metres above sea level. At high altitude, the Nigella sativa plant produces seeds with a higher concentration of thymoquinone as a natural response to increased UV radiation and lower oxygen levels. The seeds are cleaned, dried, and cold-pressed within Ethiopia before the oil is imported to the UK. We do not blend Ethiopian oil with lower-cost oils from other origins — every batch is 100% single-origin Ethiopian, independently verified. Our supplier relationship is direct and long-term, allowing us to consistently source the same highland cultivar season after season.

Suggested Use

As a daily food supplement: take 1 teaspoon (5ml) once or twice daily. Can be taken directly from the spoon, stirred into warm water with honey, blended into a smoothie, or used as a salad dressing base. Do not heat above 40°C. For topical application: apply a small amount directly to skin and massage gently, or blend into an existing carrier oil or moisturiser. For hair: apply to the scalp and hair ends, leave for 20–30 minutes before washing out. Start with a smaller amount and build up gradually. The 1-litre format should be decanted into smaller amber glass bottles once opened to minimise oxidation.
