The Lavar district of Kerman city, south-central Iran, produced the most refined Kerman carpets of the late 19th-early 20th centuries. Lavar Kerman weavers worked at exceptionally high knot counts — sometimes 400+ knots per square inch on hand-knotted pieces — producing the painterly floral medallion that became the gold standard for refined Persian carpet weaving before the disruptions of WWI and the early Pahlavi reorganization.
Lavar Kerman on a Navy ground with gold accents is a particularly distinctive sub-register. Most Lavar Kerman uses ivory or rose grounds; navy-ground Lavar was a less common but historically attested commission, valued for its visual rarity. The gold-accented medallion reads as careful court refinement — fine drawing, restrained palette discipline, the cohort's most painterly Navy.
Distinct from the Kerman court formal register we used for the Dark Gray cohort: that's the broader Kerman city tradition; this is the Lavar district's finer sub-register.
1200 Reeds (1200 شانه) on premium cotton warp; density over 3,000,000 knots/m² (تراکم). The historical Lavar Kerman was substantially finer than our 1200 Reeds piece — our register expresses the design language without replicating the knot count.
Stocked in 3×6, 3×10, 5×7.5, 6.5×10, 8.2×11.5, 10×13 ft. Strongest at 5×7.5 and 6.5×10 — Lavar Kerman's fine-painterly register reads correctly at intermediate scale where the floral drawing has space to register without crowding.
Best for: rooms wanting refined-painterly Persian register with gold accents — the Lavar Kerman is the cohort's most elegant Navy.
Skip if the brief is ceremonial weight (use the Ardabil anchor), modern minimalism, or you specifically want a cooler register (use the Mashhad Navy sibling).
See it at our Watt Avenue showroom. Lavar Kerman registers are notoriously underrepresented in photography because the fine drawing requires direct viewing to register. Free local delivery within Sacramento metro.
