Alberto Nanclares and Silvia Prieto make Atlantic-influenced wines from organically farmed, old vines in Rias Baixas. By using a restrained hand in the cellar, this pair has managed something very rare: the refinement of Albariño into an elegant and age-worthy wine. "Porta Franca" is made from 30+ year old vines planted from the O Car vineyard in near Meaño. The wine is native yeast fermented in stainless steel and then aged on the lees for an additional 11 months with no additions of sulfur. The result is a textural triumph citrus and lemon zest tinged with saline. A must drink where seafood is involved!
