This Italian 25 lire stamp was issued in 1973 to commemorate the XV Giornata del Francobollo (15th Stamp Day). It features a detailed illustration of a commercial jet airliner in flight, rendered in fine blue linework. Designed and engraved by A. Gigli, the stamp highlights the progress of modern aviation. The bottom text and "I.P.S. ROMA 1973" indicate it was printed by the Italian State Printing Works. A philatelic tribute to communication and transportation in the jet age.
