Harking from the ancient medieval district of La Villa in Requena, near Valencia, this organic certified Spanish wine is steeped in the tradition of local winemaking whilst ticking all the boxes for 21st century drinkers seeking a complex, lower intervention taste profile.

Murviedro have long been using traditional clay vessels to age their legendary top wines and this recent Clay range release celebrates these same time honoured methods - as well as the trademark clay soil that their old vines grow in.

This is a single varietal white wine made with grapes from old vines grown organically in clay soil. Xarel-lo is a white variety many drinkers will know as a usual component of Cava sparkling wine - another traditional-steeped Spanish tipple - but here it’s showing off its characterful taste in an expressive still wine.

The grapes undergo a long cold maceration before pressing, and ferment with their own native yeasts before being aged for three months in clay vessels.

The clay vessels add a wonderful texture and energy to the wines along with a saline and mineral finish. And the lack of filtering and fining makes CLAY suitable for vegans and vegetarians alike.
