This one hurts my heart I love it so much--to my sensibilities, a perfect object exactly as it stands and if there were ever something that felt holy to me, this might be it. The front panel with these wonderfully carved spires is constructed of two pieces of wood, pine I believe, held together it looks to me by just a couple of nails at the top and then a few more nailed in from the underside of the base. One more piece on either side and two pieces for the base. And then perhaps best of all, this beautifully irregularly carved cross bar inserted into two little recessed notches behind the opening. Made to hold a clock but I'd call it pure sculpture.

9" tall  x 4 3/8" wide (at base), 3" deep. Beautiful dry wood patina, stable and sound.
