Oh, just exactly my favorite sort of drawing, and how rare it seems, more and more so, to find ones like this--done by a school child I believe, mid 19th c. or so I think, graphite and watercolor on lined paper,  with an embossed stamp at the upper left edge of the paper. Look at his striped purple tights! And her polka dotted apron against mustard yellow sleeves. And those faces, and hands, and heads of hair, and the way sho looks as if she's explaining something to him, and here's leaning in. But best of all perhaps this toy house on the ground beside them, which, looking at the architecture of it, and those yellow stripes, and the moat-like platform it sits on, I would be willing to bet is an early German folk art Noah's Arc! (Now if only there were little carved animals marching around!) Love love love!

Drawing itself, which is in very very good condition, with super saturated color, measures 7 7/8" x 6 1/4". Framed: 10" x 7 9/16". There is a bit of glare showing as horizontal lines in photos. The wood veneered frame is not original to it, but I think suits it quite well.  I purchased a different old drawing in this frame and saved it; the drawing here is mounted with (removable) archival tape to a piece of onionskin writing paper that matches it nearly exactly in color and which I wrapped around a piece of board for structure and then plugged with foam core and taped on the reverse side. (All could be taken apart if desired.) The only thing needed is a hook for hanging (there are two eye hooks for wiring but positioned for horizontal hanging.
