A military steel bit.
This has a jointed snaffle mouthpiece. There is a kidney shaped link on each bit ring, which attaches to a T bar.
The mouthpiece is stamped "Co.20" and "35", there are some other marks on the links - possibly part of "35"
The bars slot through the lower ends of the bridle cheekpieces.
One of the bars is stamped "C" or "G" with a broad arrow and "14", presumably the date 1914.
These pieces allow the bit to be detached from the bridle, for feeding or watering.
The design is commonly used with military bridles.
