These striking issues from Ecuador were released between 1937 and 1939 to mark the Sesquicentennial (150th Anniversary) of the Adoption and Proclamation of the United States Constitution (1787โ1789). Printed by the American Bank Note Company, they feature rich, finely engraved designs symbolizing unity and liberty.
2 Centavos (blue): Depicts a robed allegorical female figure holding the Ecuadorian flag, with Andean mountains in the background. Condors flank the design, representing strength and national pride.
5 Centavos Airmail (black & multicolor): Shows a bold American eagle clutching the U.S. and Ecuadorian flags, flanked by portraits of George Washington and Ecuadorโs coat of arms, symbolizing friendship between the two republics.
These stamps are admired for their bi-national commemorative theme, exceptional ABNCo engraving, and their historical role in highlighting U.S.โEcuador relations. They are highly collectible, particularly well-centered and mint specimens.
