Story behind the product ~ The Chiwara, which represents an antelope, is traditionally used by the Bambara tribe in Mali. The headdresses are worn during dances, as a pair, male and female. The dances tell a story, signifying the cooperation needed for a successful harvest and community survival. The female Chiwara is carrying a 'baby antelope' on her back.

Each Chiwara is hand carved from wood, which gives each statue a distinct and individual look.
