This 1954 Lundy local stamp commemorates the Postal Jubilee (1929–1954), celebrating 25 years since the island began issuing its own carriage labels. The design by John Dyke features the motor vessel M.V. Lerina (registration LO468), which provided vital transport and mail services between Lundy and the mainland. The green-and-black composition includes a portrait of a puffin—the island’s symbolic bird—at left, and the rugged coastline of Lundy in the background.
Collector’s Note:
Issued for local use on the island, Lundy “Puffin” stamps hold special appeal for cinderella and island post enthusiasts. The Lerina issue highlights Lundy’s proud postal independence and maritime heritage.
