While I and my family were in Korea for 2 ½ years, trying to help our daughter with her challenges, I realized that I was annoying everyone I met. I tried hard to listen to myself and observe myself to figure out what could be causing people to run away from me. Then, I found the answer: I was always talking about myself. Was I so lonely and unappreciated that I had to talk about myself all the time, I thought? So, I tried hard to make sure I did not continue doing such a self-centered thing in my life.

Now, being encouraged by multiple people in recent months, I find myself composing my memoirs, as found in this volume. But what do I need to do? Talk about myself. How ironic.

I must give deepest appreciation to my wife who suffered so much with me ever since we became husband and wife. I just wanted to make her happy. I have deep heartache that I was not the husband that she needed me to be. The same to the rest of my family, and most of all to True Parents. I have even deeper sorrow that I could not be the son that they needed, either. But, I tried. And, I deeply appreciate my ancestors who gave me this life and guided and protected me through many challenging times.

This book contains memorable highlights of my life. I hope it will be valuable for someone. It does not contain everything. Some things were just not appropriate to include. If I wrote everything I wanted to say, the book would likely be banned or burned by someone. But, who would include everything in their memoirs? You asked for them and here they are. Neither did I sugarcoat them.

However, more than a record of my own life, it is really a testimony of how God tried to work through a very common person to attend and serve True Parents and begin to build God’s Kingdom. Of course, it testifies to a rocky start for God’s providence. How could it be any other way? I believe the lives of our children and grandchildren will be much smoother and full of love and happiness. In the future, I will work from the other side to help make sure that is the case…
