About Akashi

Akashi is a Japanese whisky produced by the Eigashima Shuzo company, also known as the White Oak Distillery, located in Akashi City. Founded in 1888, the company was the first in Japan to be granted a license to make whisky in 1919, and it now produces a range of single malts and blended whiskies. The distillery is situated by the sea, and its whiskies are known for being Scotch-style, often lightly peated and aged in ex-bourbon barrels, with some expressions featuring finishes in sherry or Japanese oak.
