The Brass Tingsha (or hanging cymbal) are traditionally used by Tibetan Monks for healing and meditation. They are joined by a leather cord and have a lovely sound when they strike each other. This is a genuine hand made Tibetan artefact.
The mantra Om Mani Padme Hum is of Tibetan origin and has several translations depending on the school of Buddhism. It is a prevalent mantra in Tibet, Mongolia, and the Himalayas.
The Tibetan Guru Dalai Lama says, “The six syllables, Om Mani Padme hum, mean that in dependence on the practice of a path which is an indivisible union of method and wisdom, you can transform your impure body, speech, and mind into the pure exalted body, speech, and mind of a Buddha.”
Although these days tingshas are commonly used for musical recordings and yoga classes, their principle function is as a religious ritual tool. The symbols embossed on the tingsha represent Om Mani Padme Hum. Also available in 2 other designs- Lucky signs and 7 Chakras.
