The Ubiquiti UDR-5G-MAX represents the pinnacle of all-in-one desktop network architecture, packing a high-capacity security gateway, a gigabit-class 5G cellular modem, a tri-band Wi-Fi 7 access point, and a full UniFi application controller into a single standalone console. Purpose-built for modern deployments requiring absolute WAN connectivity uptime—such as remote offices, high-end residential estates, temporary exhibition sites, and critical retail hubs—this gateway turns high-speed cellular networks into a primary or failover internet pipe.
Driven by an upgraded processor frame and 3 GB of DDR4 system memory, the UDR-5G-MAX hosts the full UniFi OS suite natively. It easily orchestrates 30+ adopted UniFi switches and access points, supports over 300 concurrent user sessions, and acts as a localised central hub for security, door access, and IP telephony networks.
The defining engineering feature of the UDR-5G-MAX is its internal sub-6 GHz 5G modem module, which provides robust cellular connectivity straight out of the chassis:
3.4 Gbps Peak Cellular Downlink: Supports 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) speeds up to 3.4 Gbps download (and up to 1.8 Gbps on Standalone 5G networks), providing a true alternative to physical wired multi-gigabit fibre lines.
Multi-Carrier Failover Matrix: Equipped with two physical Nano-SIM slots alongside modern internal eSIM subscription profile mapping. Network planners can load multiple cellular providers simultaneously, configuring automated, hitless failover or multi-WAN load balancing rules across cellular and wired internet lines.
High-Gain Cellular Aerial Array: Built with a high-mass internal multi-band antenna array optimised for weak signal penetration, pulling strong data feeds even in dense urban or metal-framed environments.
The wireless array inside the UDR-5G-MAX leverages the full suite of Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) standards across an uncrowded wireless footprint:
10.6 Gbps Composite Air Link Speed: Splices six individual spatial streams across 2.4 GHz (688 Mbps), 5 GHz (4.3 Gbps), and the pristine 6 GHz (5.7 Gbps) wireless bands to achieve massive wireless distribution capacities.
320 MHz Ultra-Wide Channels: Opens wide 320 MHz wireless signal lanes on the 6 GHz spectrum. This provides double the spatial width of legacy Wi-Fi 6 hardware, allowing massive file movements and zero-latency media pipelines to flow smoothly.
Multi-Link Operation (MLO): Enables compatible modern client devices to bind to multiple wireless frequencies concurrently, actively moving data packets past localised radio frequency (RF) interference barriers.
The physical terminal block at the rear provides immediate access to high-speed multi-gigabit wired distribution lines and localised power output:
| Physical Port Label | Interface Media Connection Type | Native Routing Architecture Role | Integrated Power Capabilities |
| SFP+ Slot | 10 Gbps SFP+ Cage Transceiver | High-Capacity Fibre WAN or Local LAN Core | Data Only |
| 2.5G RJ45 (WAN) | 2.5 GbE Copper Port | High-Speed Wired Broadband Inbound | Data Only |
| LAN 1 (PoE) | 2.5 GbE Copper Port | Multi-Gigabit Distribution / Downstream Link | 802.3af PoE out (15.4W Budget) |
| LAN 2 | 2.5 GbE Copper Port | Multi-Gigabit Distribution / Local Switch | Data Only |
| LAN 3 | 2.5 GbE Copper Port | Multi-Gigabit Distribution / Local Switch | Data Only |
| LAN 4 | 2.5 GbE Copper Port | Multi-Gigabit Distribution / Local Switch | Data Only |
2.3 Gbps Deep Threat Inspection: Features a highly sophisticated stateful firewall, deep packet inspection (DPI), ad-blocking, and signature-based Intrusion Prevention/Detection Systems (IPS/IDS). The security processor handles up to 20,000 active signatures, sustaining a high 2.3 Gbps threat scanning rate without impacting network traffic flow.
Enlarged 4.7-Inch LCM Touchscreen: Stepping up significantly from previous iterations, the front panel houses an elongated, high-resolution colour touchscreen. Technicians can swipe through live charts, check cellular signal metrics, test carrier pings, monitor active PoE power draw, and view live client counts directly from the chassis.
UniFi Protect Surveillance Node: Out of the box, the console features an integrated microSD slot pre-populated with an industrial 64GB microSD card. Running the UniFi Protect application natively, it acts as a network video recorder (NVR) to manage continuous or motion-triggered storage loops for up to 5 HD, 2 2K, or 1 4K security surveillance cameras.
